The One

The fifth book in this list is called “The One” and was written by John Marrs. The novel follows a young woman who has agreed to move in with a man who was her neighbor when she was young. Now that they’re both adults, he attempts to reconnect with her and make amends for the wrongdoings he committed against her as a child. However, soon after moving in with him she realizes that his intentions for her aren’t innocent and may have something to do with the mysterious disappearance of his ex-girlfriend. This book has been praised by many critics because of its unusual plotline and the way it develops over time as well as its unexpected ending.
